Ann mentioned me about your concern on OpenVMS support moving to India. Thank you very much for the mail. OpenVMS has been very fortunate to have customers like you that have helped OpenVMS business grow over the last 30 years.
As for my introduction, I am managing the OpenVMS India team for over last 10+ years. India team has been an integral part of OpenVMS Engineering for over last 15+ years owning engineering responsibilities for most part of the layered
products and some of the Operating system components. I myself am a Pre-merger Digital employee, and so is half of my team!! We have people who have worked on VMS for 15-20 years & are hard core VMS lovers. Though we have gone through many mergers, our legacy hasn't changed.
The decision to move the Engineering to India is a natural progression and recognition of the capabilities of India team. The younger & experienced team in India is poised to nurture and grow OpenVMS into future. I can assure you that my team is second to none in both capabilities and talent. There will be a core US team available even after the transition to help us to build the customer relationship.
I am sure you have met some of our experts in OpenVMS Bootcamp or TUD. Due to geographical proximity we had focused on customer events in APAC more & our US team was addressing the customer events in Europe & US though.
While I re-iterate our commitment and support to OVMS and take the road map forward into the future for many years to come, I am keen to hear from you if you need further information on this.
