ANNOUNCING HP OPENVMS TDC V2.3-20

This is a bug fix release of The Performance Data
Collector for HP OpenVMS (TDC).

TDC gathers performance data for OpenVMS systems. No
additional license or cost is required to use TDC. This
version of TDC can be installed on OpenVMS Alpha V7.3-2
and later, and OpenVMS I64 V8.2-1 and later.

By default, TDC periodically collects and stores data in a

data from the file. Openview Performance Agent, ECP
Version 5.6A can all read data from TDC.

This release addresses issues discovered in TDC Version
2.3-18 and earlier versions of TDC Version 2.3. Do not
install this version of TDC on OpenVMS Integrity server
Version 8.2.

New Golden Egg - MDS600 cluster

There is a new golden egg configuration diagram of a
OpenVMS Cluster using the new HP StorageWorks 600 Modular
Disk System(MDS600 see
www.openvms.org/stories.php?story=09/07/09/8122932) and HP
blades.

Golden Eggs are very useful hardware configuration
diagrams.

The Golden Egg creator, Matti Pätäri, says "This summer
our Artic goose's nesting has been successful to make the
MSD600 Golden Eggs up in the air.
This HP StorageWorks MDS600 and OpenVMS Blade servers
BL860 are painted in c3000 environment.
This is a brand new diagram"

You can find this one at
http://goldeneggs.spyderbyte.com/geggs/HP-GE-MDS600-A.pdf

Why not have a look at all of them at

New Whitepaper: Consolidation in the Data Center

Virtualization, Choice and Performance Drive More
Efficient and Flexible IT Consolidation

http://www.itaniumsolutions.org/files/resource_media/2EEA1B7D-A687-F9AD-D31E4B4650C470AD.pdf

This paper discusses the benefits of open-architecture
systems that provide a flexible, cost-effective platform
for IT consolidation in the data center. Efficiency,
multiple approaches to virtualization, a range of
operating systems, and high-end scalability allow
Itanium-based systems to accommodate any combination of
workloads, from small Web applications to the largest
databases. This paper also outlines the sophisticated RAS
and security features on Itanium.

SMH Patch release V2.0-20

HP have released an updated version of the Systen
Management Homepage for OpenVMS.

HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) for OpenVMS is the
single system management solution for managing OpenVMS. HP
SMH is also available for HP-UX, Linux and Microsoft®
Windows® systems.

The key features of HP SMH for OpenVMS are its system
administration capabilities and its ability to display
details of hardware attributes. The HP SMH solution
provides an easy-to-use interface for displaying hardware
fault and status monitoring, system thresholds, and
diagnostics for an individual server by aggregating the
data from HP web-based agents.

HP SMH integrates with HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM)

# In SMH V2.0-20 there are two new features Support for
Settable Threshold Temperatures on Blade Systems
# Support for SMH Recovery During Installation

and various bug fixes.

Thank you for choosing PMAS!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
1.1 New Features and Bug fixes in PreciseMail
Anti-Spam
           Gateway V3.1-3

o PMAS rule files now allow includes (using
"@") up to
five levels deep. Previously, an included
file could
              not include another file.

o In order to reduce the memory requirements of
the
PMAS PTSMTP worker processes, a new
configuration
              variable, PTSMTP_MAX_SIZE, has been created.
The
maximum message size is specified in bytes
(the
default value is 0, which disables the
check).
Messages larger than the specified size will
be
passed to the backend server without being
scanned
              or logged in PMAS.LOG.

o The AI support for quarantine and discard
files did
not handle the new ISAM indexed files on
OpenVMS.
This problem has been corrected. (Previously
released in a separate image update to
V3.1-2.)

o When a message was written to the quarantine
or
discard index, the username was not
converted to
              lowercase, causing problems for mixed-case
addresses
when those users logged in via the GUI. The
symptom
was they couldn't see their quarantined
messages.
This update corrects the logging code so
that the
email addresses are converted to lowercase
so the
keyed reads will work. (Previously released
in a
              separate image update to V3.1-2.)

o A problem with the UAI$M_PWDMIX support when
logging
into the PMAS GUI has been corrected
(previously
released in a separate image update to
V3.1-2.)

o A number of problems with the web-based PMAS
GUI
              have been corrected.

o A problem with the precedence order of the
groups
displayed in the group administration page
has
                been corrected.

o The PMAS domain administrator cookie is now
                cleared by PMASLOGOUT.

o Alias lookups are now performed for the
special
                "$default$" logins.

o The PMAS CGI script ALLOWLIST did not
properly
handle uploaded CSV files using only
carriage-
returns as line terminators. This problem
has
                been corrected.

o Several problems in the user-impersonation
                features have been corrected:

o When a domain admin impersonates a user
and
                   displays the quarantine, the quarantine
displayed is only for that user.
Previously,
the quarantine for the entire domain
was
                   incorrectly displayed.

o When logging out of domain-impersonated
user,
the start page no longer displays the
user's
                   email address.

o When impersonating a user, the proper
start
page was not always displayed. This
problem has
                   been corrected.

o When a domain admin impersonates a user,
the
default domain is now supplied if it is
omitted
in the given user email address.

o The Thickbox Javascript code was modified
to work
around a problem with Internet Explorer 8
so that
                popup windows are properly displayed.

o The nightly batch job on OpenVMS no longer
tries to
truncate the discard index files, which are
now ISAM
              files.

AsItHappens 0.55

AsItHappens is a real-time network statistics collector
and grapher written in Java and published under GPL. It
uses SNMP and ICMP to collect data from devices over a
network and displays graphs of network response,
bandwidth, processor and memory usage, Cisco NBAR and
Netflow. In addition, AsItHappens can graphically display
flow information from a tcpdump file.

AsItHappens 0.55 has a new feature called "OID" which
allows graphing arbitrary OID values, and needs Java6.

Thierry USO monitored the processor temperature of his
rx1620 with SMH SNMP agents and AsItHappens and used this
new feature to display a graph.
